Lake Region Visits the Oklahoma Capitol
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Lake Region Electric Cooperative joined the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives and fellow Oklahoma co-ops at the Oklahoma State Capitol to see the legislative process in action!
During our visit, we:
-Attended the Oversight Committee on Energy & Natural Resources, where two co-op bills were heard and successfully advanced to the House floor.
-Connected with legislators through office visits and hallway conversations, visiting with 36 legislators in total as a group!
-Toured the Capitol Dome. Some of us were brave enough to go all the way to the top. We also learned that some of us are afraid of heights.
-Ran into our Youth Ambassador, Easton Graalfs, paging for Representative Bob Ed Culver.
-Got a surprise behind-the-scenes moment in Representative Sneed’s office while he received a call from Lake Region Technology & Communications. Our CEO, Glen Clark, got to play "undercover boss” for a moment and chat with our fiber scheduler. They did a great job!
Three co-ops and 24 co-op employees participated, making this an unforgettable day of learning and engagement. Experiences like this give our team a firsthand look at how policy decisions impact our co-ops and the communities we serve. Thank you to OAEC for supporting Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives every day and coordinating co-op rotations!
